Monogram freezer column not cold enough
A freezer column that has drifted up while the refrigerator column beside it is perfect. It is the clearest illustration of what a paired column installation actually is: two independent machines behind one wall of matched panels, sharing nothing but an opening.

Read the plate on the right cabinet
Two columns, two model numbers. The one that is misbehaving is the one we need.

02
Measure in the middle of the load
Not in the door and not against the back wall.
-
03
Give it time
A cabinet that has been opened, loaded or defrosted needs hours to settle before a reading means anything.

04
Check the grille
On a column it is at the top or the bottom of the cabinet front. If you cannot see through it, start there.

Narrow it down before anybody arrives
A description of the behaviour leaves a few possible causes. A code names the subsystem before anybody opens anything, which is why it is worth photographing before it clears.

About Monogram freezer column not cold enough
Measure it before you judge it
Zero Fahrenheit is the number. A column sitting five degrees above it will keep food safe while ruining the texture of anything with dairy in it, which is how most people notice. Put a thermometer in the middle of the load rather than in the door, and give it several hours before you decide.
What it usually means, by the kind of Monogram appliance
Monogram sells one appliance in several forms, and the same behavior points at different things on each of them. A built-in side-by-side and an integrated column are not the same service situation, and a dual-fuel range and an induction range fail in different halves.
- Integrated freezer column — Its own compressor, its own evaporator, its own control. Read the plate on this cabinet, not on its twin.
- A column pair — If both are drifting, that is two coincident problems or one shared cause outside the appliances — a hot machinery space, or cabinetry that has closed in around both grilles.
- Built-in side-by-side freezers — Different situation entirely: one sealed system serving two compartments, so a warm freezer there usually takes the fresh-food side with it.
What a column actually is
A single-temperature cabinet, 18 to 36 inches wide, installed flush and panel-ready, with everything serviced from the front because there is no behind. Monogram builds freezer columns and refrigerator columns to match, and most kitchens that have one have both — which is why the first question on this page is always which cabinet.

Before you book
Questions about monogram freezer column not cold enough
Both columns are warm.
Then look for something outside them: a machinery space that has got hot, cabinetry that has closed in around both grilles, or a remodel that changed the ventilation. Two independent machines failing the same week usually have one external cause.
How cold should a freezer actually be?
Zero Fahrenheit. Food stays safe a good deal warmer than that, but texture does not, and ice cream is the most sensitive instrument most kitchens own.
