Monogram gas burner and valve service

Flames that are yellow, uneven, or that will not turn down far enough to simmer. On a professional top the burners are serviceable — caps, rings, ports and the valve behind the knob — and most of these complaints are a cleaning and adjustment job rather than a replacement.

How this visit actually goes

The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

  1. 01

    Look at every flame

Color, height and evenness across the ports, with the others as a reference.

  2. 02

    Strip and clean the burner

Cap, ring and ports. Years of boil-over do more to a professional burner than age does.

  3. 03

    Check the air adjustment

A yellow, sooty flame is usually the air and not the gas.

  4. 04

    Service the valve

A knob that has gone stiff or a simmer that will not hold is the valve, and on these it can often be serviced rather than replaced.

  5. 05

    Confirm at both extremes

Full and simmer, on every burner, held long enough to be sure.

  • A 48-inch professional stainless range in a dark kitchen with six burners on the left and a smooth griddle plate on the right, heavy brass-toned knobs along the front.

    Monogram range repair in Miami

Monogram does not make an ordinary range. The line is professional: 30, 36 and 48 inches, dual-fuel with a gas top over an electric oven, all-gas throughout, or induction — with griddles and grills on the wider models. A 48-inch dual-fuel range is a gas appliance, an electric appliance and a ventilation problem in one piece of steel, and the diagnosis starts by working out which of the three is talking.

    • Dual-fuel, all-gas and induction, 30 to 48 inches
    • Griddle and grill sections are their own repair
    • The F-code family covers the oven side, not the burners

  • A wide induction cooktop set flush into a dark stone worktop, black glass reflecting a warm ceiling light, one heavy flat-bottomed pan standing on it.
    Deep-recessed gas · induction · 36 and 48-inch professional rangetops

    Monogram cooktop repair in Miami

Two appliances that people describe with the same word. A cooktop drops into the counter and has nothing underneath it; a rangetop is a professional cooking surface with a finished front and a wall oven or cabinetry below. Monogram builds both — deep-recessed gas and induction cooktops in 30 and 36 inches, and 36 and 48-inch gas rangetops with griddles.

    • Gas and induction cooktops, 30 and 36 inches
    • 36 and 48-inch professional gas rangetops with griddle options
    • Induction problems are electronic and heat-related

Questions about monogram gas burner and valve service

The simmer setting will not stay lit.

Usually the valve or the burner ports rather than the igniter. A professional burner has to hold a very small flame steadily, and that is the first thing a partially blocked port takes away. It is a serviceable problem on this equipment.

The flame is yellow and it is sooting the pans.

That is the air adjustment or a blocked port, not the gas. It is worth attending to promptly — sooting means incomplete combustion, and incomplete combustion in a kitchen is not something to leave running all winter.
