- “Hard water is the local villain”
- “The spray arms come out and should”
- “C6 means the water arriving is too cold”
Symptom
Monogram dishes not coming out clean
When a dishwasher stops washing well the cause is usually water rather than the machine: spray arms scaled so they turn slowly, a filter that has never been removed, hard water filming the glassware, or inlet water too cold for the detergent to activate.

Six ordinary causes
What this usually turns out to be
Cheapest and commonest first, which is also the order we check them in. They sit hundreds of dollars apart, and only the unit settles which one is yours.
-
A blocked filter
Two years of debris, and the same water being pumped back over the load.
Dishwasher wash performance service from $135 -
Scaled spray arms
Slower rotation and a changed pattern, from hard water.
Dishwasher wash performance service from $135 -
Inlet water too cold
Detergent needs heat. C6 is the machine saying so outright.
Dishwasher wash performance service from $135 -
Detergent and rinse aid
Dosed for somewhere with softer water than this.
Dishwasher wash performance service from $135 -
Loading
A tray or a board blocking an arm. Self-inflicted and completely fixable.
Diagnostic visit from $95 -
The wash pump
Losing pressure. Reached after everything above.
Dishwasher pump replacement from $265

Before you call anybody
None of it needs tools, and all of it makes the visit shorter.
-
01
Spin the spray arms by hand
They should turn freely and easily.
-
02
Hold an arm up to the light
Blocked jets show immediately.
-
03
Run the kitchen tap hot before a cycle
In a house with a long pipe run this alone can change the result.
-
04
Check the rinse aid
Empty rinse aid is the single most common reason glassware suddenly starts spotting.
How it shows up
What people describe when they call
A shortcut
Narrow it down before anybody arrives
A description of the behaviour leaves a few possible causes. A code names the subsystem before anybody opens anything, which is why it is worth photographing before it clears.
If there is no code at all
The data plate is inside the cabinet, upper left wall or behind the grille. All models

About Monogram dishes not coming out clean
Take the spray arms off and look at the jets
They come off by hand on these machines. Scale in the jets is invisible from above and changes the pattern completely — arms that turn slowly cover half the load. While they are off, unscrew the filter in the floor of the tub. Those two together resolve most of this complaint without anybody coming out.
What it usually means, by the kind of Monogram appliance
Monogram sells one appliance in several forms, and the same behavior points at different things on each of them. A built-in side-by-side and an integrated column are not the same service situation, and a dual-fuel range and an induction range fail in different halves.
- Fully integrated machines — Condensation drying rather than an exposed element, so wet plastics at the end of a cycle are usually the design rather than a problem.
- 800 and 900 series — The same engineering underneath, so the failure patterns and the fixes are consistent across the line rather than varying model by model.
- Machines on unsoftened supply — Filming on glass, scale in the jets and a spray pattern that has quietly changed. Recoverable, and it takes descaling rather than parts.
Film, spots and grit are three different complaints
A white film that wipes off is hard water and rinse aid. Spots that dry on are usually rinse aid alone. Grit — actual particles on the load — is the filter and the spray arms, and it means the machine is redistributing what it should be removing. Telling us which of the three you have changes the visit.

Questions about monogram dishes not coming out clean
Clean but not dry, especially plastics.
That is condensation drying working as designed rather than a problem. These machines dry against the cool stainless tub instead of with an exposed element — quieter, gentler, and genuinely less effective on plastics. Rinse aid and not opening the door too early both help.
It got worse suddenly.
Sudden points at something mechanical or at a habit change — a blocked arm, an empty rinse aid reservoir, or a new detergent. Gradual points at scale.
