Symptom
Monogram refrigerator leaking water
Where the water is tells you most of what you need to know. Inside the cabinet points at the defrost drain; underneath points at the drain pan or a supply connection; in front of the door on a dispenser model points at the line in the door. On integrated cabinetry it matters more than usual, because the floor is often the expensive part of the room.

Six ordinary causes
What this usually turns out to be
Cheapest and commonest first, which is also the order we check them in. They sit hundreds of dollars apart, and only the unit settles which one is yours.
-
A blocked defrost drain
Debris then ice in the drain from the freezer compartment. Water backs up and appears inside the cabinet.
Defrost system repair from $195 -
The drain pan or its position
It overflows, or it has been knocked out of place during service.
Refrigerator not cooling repair from $175 -
The water supply connection
A saddle valve, a compression fitting or a line that has been disturbed. Small and continuous rather than dramatic.
Water dispenser and filter service from $125 -
The line in the door
On a dispenser model, a tube that has frozen and split. It only leaks when it thaws.
Water dispenser and filter service from $125 -
A door that is not sealing
Humid air condensing inside the cabinet and running down. This produces water without any plumbing being involved at all.
Panel alignment and door adjustment from $145 -
The filter housing
A cartridge not seated, or an O-ring that has perished. Usually visible once the panel is off.
Water dispenser and filter service from $125

Before you call anybody
None of it needs tools, and all of it makes the visit shorter.
-
01
Dry it and watch
Paper towel down, then look every few hours. A pattern is worth more than a description.
-
02
Check inside the cabinet floor
Water pooling under the crisper drawers is the classic blocked defrost drain and it is the first thing to rule in or out.
-
03
Turn off the water supply
If you suspect the supply and the leak is significant, shut the valve before waiting for a visit. On a built-in the cabinetry is what takes the damage.
-
04
Look for ice where there should not be any
A sheet of ice on the floor of the freezer compartment is the defrost drain telling you it is blocked.
How it shows up
What people describe when they call
A shortcut
Narrow it down before anybody arrives
A description of the behaviour leaves a few possible causes. A code names the subsystem before anybody opens anything, which is why it is worth photographing before it clears.
If there is no code at all
The data plate is inside the cabinet, upper left wall or behind the grille. All models

About Monogram refrigerator leaking water
Find out where it is coming from before anything else
Dry everything, put paper down, and watch for a day. Water inside the cabinet at the bottom of the fresh-food compartment is a blocked defrost drain nine times out of ten. Water on the floor in front is the door line or the dispenser. Water underneath at the back is the drain pan or a supply connection. Those are three different repairs and the puddle is the only thing that tells them apart.
What it usually means, by the kind of Monogram appliance
Monogram sells one appliance in several forms, and the same behavior points at different things on each of them. A built-in side-by-side and an integrated column are not the same service situation, and a dual-fuel range and an induction range fail in different halves.
- Built-in and integrated cabinets — The defrost drain runs from the back of the freezer compartment down to a pan near the machinery. It blocks with debris and then with ice, and the water finds the floor of the cabinet instead.
- Models with a dispenser — Add the supply line in the door and the fill tube to the list. A line that has frozen and split leaks only when it thaws, which is why the puddle seems random.
- Undercounter and drawer units — Drain lines under a bar depend on a fall that was marginal the day it was installed, and a pump where there is no fall.
Why this one should not be left
Every other symptom on this site costs you food, electricity or patience. This one costs you cabinetry and flooring, and in these kitchens both are expensive and neither is covered by anything. A slow leak under a built-in refrigerator is invisible until the base of the cabinet has taken it.

Questions about monogram refrigerator leaking water
There is ice on the floor of my freezer.
That is almost always the defrost drain. Water that should be running away is freezing where it stands, and once the drain is fully iced the next cycle's meltwater goes into the cabinet.
It only leaks sometimes.
Intermittent points at defrost cycles or at a line that freezes and thaws. Both are real and both have a rhythm — noting the times helps more than you would think.
