# Monogram microwave drawer will not open

### Look for something in the way

Inside the drawer and on the counter in front of it. A tall bottle standing in the drawer, or a chopping board leaning against the front, will stop the travel and the appliance will refuse rather than force it. It is free to check and it is the answer surprisingly often.

- **Microwave drawers** — Motor, drive and position sensing. The control needs to know where the drawer is, and sensing that has failed reads as a mechanism that has.
- **Built-in microwaves** — No mechanism at all — a door and a set of interlocks, which fail in a much simpler way.
- **After a power cut** — PF on the display means the supply was interrupted. Clear it and reset the clock.

### Why the drawer gets its own page

Because it is the only microwave in the house with something to wear out that is not electrical. Everything else in this category — runs and does not heat, sparks, will not start — is common to every microwave ever built. Opening is specific to this appliance, and it is usually mechanical rather than expensive.
