# Monogram induction zone not working

### Test the pan with a magnet

If a magnet will not stick firmly to the base of the pan, the appliance is behaving exactly correctly and there is nothing to repair. Then try a pan you know works on the zone that failed, and try the failing pan on a zone that works. Those two tests separate cookware, zone and control before anybody comes out.

### What it usually means, by the kind of Monogram appliance

Monogram sells one appliance in several forms, and the same behavior points at different things on each of them. A built-in side-by-side and an integrated column are not the same service situation, and a dual-fuel range and an induction range fail in different halves.

- **Induction cooktops** — Four or five zones under one sheet of glass, with modules underneath cooled by a fan through a defined air path. A drawer packed to the back can genuinely cause this.
- **Induction professional ranges** — The same technology over an oven, which means the cooling under the glass has an oven below it and less room to work with.
- **Glide Touch controls** — The controls are part of the glass. A control that has stopped responding on one zone is not necessarily the module underneath it.

### Heat is what induction is afraid of

Everything that switches the power lives in a shallow space under the glass, and it is cooled by a fan through a path the installation was supposed to leave clear. When that path is blocked the modules protect themselves by reducing power, which the cook experiences as an appliance quietly getting weaker over a year. Catching it at that stage is much better than catching it when a module has failed outright.

Non-magnetic cookware

Not a repair. Aluminum, copper and some stainless will not work and were never going to.

A pan that is too small

Zones have a minimum diameter and will refuse a pan below it.

Thermal protection

The module reducing power because it cannot shed heat. Reads as an appliance getting weaker.

A blocked cooling path

A drawer packed to the back, or an installation with less clearance than the specification asks for.

The coil or its module

One zone, one module. Measured rather than replaced on suspicion.

The power supply to one side

When several zones on the same side go together.

On the base of the pan. Five seconds.

Swap pans between zones

It separates cookware from appliance immediately.

Note whether it is one zone or one side

That single fact changes the likely part and the figure.

Open the drawer underneath

And see whether it is packed against the appliance. It matters.

Then the pans are the difference. Induction needs a ferrous base, and manufacturers change what they use without changing what the pan looks like.

### It buzzes on high with certain pans.

That is normal and it is the pan rather than the appliance — a multi-ply base can resonate. Different pan, different noise.
