On local supply the filter is the first suspect and very often the only one, and the interval printed on the cartridge assumes gentler water than South Florida provides. It costs nothing to rule out before booking anything larger.

Check supply pressure at the appliance

Look for a frozen line

A supply tube in the door that has iced up is common and is a temperature problem wearing a plumbing costume.

Flush and taste

Several gallons through after any filter change, which is also what stops the noise people call about.

### How often should the filter really be changed here?

Sooner than the date on it. Six months is the usual printed interval and it assumes a milder supply; on hard local water a cartridge is frequently finished before then. Flow dropping off is the appliance telling you, and taste is the other half.

Usually air in the line after a filter change, and several gallons run through will clear it. If it persists, the inlet valve or the line in the door is next — and a supply tube in the door that has iced up is a temperature problem wearing a plumbing costume.
