### About griddle and grill sections

The sections that make a 48-inch range a professional range, and the ones that get the hardest use. A griddle has its own burner or element and its own temperature control; a grill has its own burner, its own grease management and a genuine dependency on the ventilation above it. Both are separate repairs from the burners beside them, and telling us which section saves a return visit for parts.

What this involves

Griddle and grill diagnosed as their own appliances

Grease management included, because it causes the rest

Ventilation checked alongside

Establish which section

On a wide range this decides the parts, and telling us on the phone saves a return visit.

Check the plate or the grates are seated

A heavy griddle plate put back off its seat will not make even contact and reads exactly like a control problem.

Measure the heat across the surface

Uneven heat points at the control or the sensor under the plate rather than at the plate itself.

Deal with grease

Trays, channels and the path out. On an indoor grill this is the cause of most of what goes wrong around it.

Check the hood over it

A grill inside a house depends on ventilation that actually works, and half of these visits end up including the hood.

### The griddle heats unevenly across the plate.

Usually the control or the sensor under the plate rather than the plate itself. Rule out the simple thing first: a heavy griddle plate lifted for cleaning and put back slightly off its seat will not make even contact and reads exactly like a problem.

### The grill smokes the kitchen out.

That is the hood before it is the grill, nine times out of ten. An indoor grill needs ventilation that is actually moving air, and hood filters over a grill load faster than anywhere else in the kitchen. We check both on this visit.
