# Monogram oven sensor and calibration service

### About oven calibration and drift

An oven consistently out by 25 or 30 degrees is a calibration question — these ovens have an offset setting and that is exactly what it is for. An oven that swings, overshoots, or throws F2, F3 or F4 is a sensor and control question. Telling those two apart before touching anything is most of this job, and it is done with a reference thermometer after a full stable preheat.

What this involves

Drift and swing treated as different problems

F3 and F4 name this circuit directly

Offset set against a reference, not by feel

Measure what it is actually doing

At two temperatures, after a full stable preheat rather than two minutes in.

Read the code if there is one

F3 open sensor, F4 shorted sensor, F2 genuine over-temperature. The code says which conversation this is.

Test the sensor

Resistance at a known temperature against the published curve, and the harness with it.

Set the calibration offset

These ovens allow it, and a modest steady drift is exactly what it is for.

Prove it holds

Re-measured at both temperatures after the change.

### How do I check it myself before booking?

An oven thermometer in the middle of the cavity, set to 350, and read after the oven has been at temperature for twenty minutes rather than two. Check a second temperature as well: a constant offset and an error that grows with heat are different problems.

### Is a 25 degree difference a problem?

Not really, and it is what the calibration offset exists for. Ovens leave the factory within a tolerance and drift a little over years. It is worth correcting, and it is not a broken appliance.
