### About drainage on a Monogram dishwasher

Water standing in the bottom at the end of a cycle is the most common dishwasher call there is, and on these machines it usually comes with a code nobody has seen, because the display is on the top edge of the door. C1, C2, C3 and C5 all describe drainage and they mean different things. The order of checks is filter, air gap, hose and its high loop, then the pump.

The code is there and it narrows the job immediately.

Remove and clean the filter

It unscrews, and most owners have never taken it out. This alone resolves a good share of these calls.

Check the air gap and the drain hose

Including whether the hose still has its high loop, which stops the sink draining back into the machine.

Check the disposal connection

A knockout plug left in at installation is a genuine and surprisingly common finding, sometimes years later.

Then the pump and the control

Measured, and only after everything upstream of them has been eliminated.

### Where exactly is the filter and how do I clean it?

In the floor of the tub, under the lower spray arm. It unscrews by hand. Most owners have never taken it out, and doing so resolves a good share of these calls without anybody coming out.

### It drained fine until we replaced the garbage disposal.

Then that is almost certainly it. A new disposal ships with a knockout plug in the dishwasher inlet, and if the installer did not remove it the machine has nowhere to drain. It is a five-minute fix and a very common one.
