A control board is expensive, frequently blamed, and comparatively rarely the problem. Most of what gets called a board failure is a sensor, a harness or a connector that has corroded in coastal air, and a board replaced without finding that cause will fail again. Codes that name the control — F5 and F8 on the cooking side — are a lead rather than a verdict.

### The internet says my symptom means the board.

It says that about almost every symptom, because a board is what is left when nothing else has been measured.
